Ram Navami

Ram Navami is a spring festival which is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ram. He is particularly important to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism, as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Ram symbolizes “the ideal man”. This festival is celebrated by reading stories about Lord Ram, reciting Ram Katha.

Devotees also visit Ram or Vishnu temples all over Kathmandu valley and in different parts of the country. Ram Mandir in Battisputali, Changu Narayan in Bhaktapur, and Budhanilkantha Temple, Ichangu Narayan and Bichangu Narayan in Kathmandu outskirts are filled with devotees on this day. The Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur also hosts thousands of visitors on this day.
