Shree Panchami

S hree Panchami, Basanta panchami or Saraswati Pooja is one of the most important festival of Nepal. This day marks the end of winter and starting of spring. Goddess Saraswati is worshiped on this day. Goddess Saraswati is regarded as the goddess of knowledge,language, music and all arts. Goddess Saraswati is four handed Goddess seated on a white lotus wearing white sari. She holds Veena, Book and a garland in her hands.

This day is regarded as an auspicious day to start learning new things. Many kids start learning and writing from this day. Kids are taught to write the fitst alphabet on this day. On this day, people write on the walls of Saraswati temples across the country. It is believed, Shree Panchami is the best day to start learning new things as this is the day of the Goddess of knowledge. This day is also believed to be very good and auspicious for people to get married, start new business and venture.
