New Year
New year in Nepal is observed on the first day of Month Baishak. Baishak is the first month of Bikram Sambat Calendar. First of Baishak falls in the mid April. This day is observed as national holiday. New Year is referred to as “Nawa Barsha” and it’s celebrated as a public holiday throughout the country.

Many people go out on picnics in local parks, travel around to see different parts of the country. Many family gatherings are also observed on this day.
