Chhath

Chhath Parva is one of the major festivals of Madhesh or Terai. This festival is dedicated to god Sun. Chhat parba is thanks giving to god Sun for sustaining life on earth and providing continuous blessings to mankind. This festival is celebrated for 4 days. Worshipers are mostly women. However, a large number of men also observe this festival as Chhath is not a gender-specific festival.

Tihar

Tihar is also known as Deepawali and Yamapanchak or Swanti. This festival is celebrated for five days. This is the second biggest festival of Nepal. Tihar is the festival of lights. Fire crackers also has an important place in this festival. In the evening there is light and sound of fire cracker everywhere.

Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds. Father’s Day is also known as Kuse Ausi or Pitri Tirpani Aausi or Gokarne Ausi. It is commonly known as Buwaako mukh herne din. Father’s day occurs in August or early September, depending on the year, since it depends on the lunar calendar.

Gai Jatra

Gai Jatra, the festival of cows, (gai means cow and jatra means festival in Nepali) is celebrated in Nepal, mainly in Kathmandu valley by the Newar and Tharu community.
The festival commemorates the death of people during the year. During the festival, cows are marched in the streets and generally celebrated in the Nepalese month of Bhadra (August–September).

Janai Purnima

Janai Purnima is observed in the month of Shrawan. It is called Rakshya Bandhan as this festival observes the bond of purity and security. This festival is celebrated by Hindus all over the country. Janai Purnima is Sacred Thread Festival. Nag Panchami

Nag Panchami is a traditional worship of snakes or serpents observed by Hindus throughout Nepal. The worship is offered on the fifth day of bright half of Lunar month of Shravan (July/August), according to the Hindu calendar. The abode of snakes is believed to be patal lok, (the seven realms of the universe located below the earth) and lowest of them is also called Naga-loka, the region of the Nagas, as part of the creation force and their blessings are sought for the welfare of the family.
